How to Use Your Microsoft SATVs Before They Expire

If you have Microsoft Software Assurance Training Vouchers (SATVs), you need to assign them before June 30, 2021 and use them before December 31, 2021. In this post, we’ll talk you through how to redeem SATVs before they expire

What are Microsoft SATVs?

If you are in possession of SATVs and need a refresher on what they are, SATVs are a benefit to those who have a Software Assurance membership with Microsoft. These vouchers entitle you to take training classes for a certain number of days from Microsoft Learning partners (New Horizons Phoenix is a Microsoft Learning partner).

Microsoft training vouchers help you:

  • Improve IT and staff productivity by training them to implement and manage new software

  • Provide additional IT training at no extra cost

  • Receive tailored learning strategies from Microsoft Learning partners like New Horizons Phoenix

How do Microsoft SATVs work?

One voucher is good for one day of training, and the vouchers are good for the duration of your agreement with Microsoft.

How do I redeem my Microsoft SATVs?

You have four key steps to take to redeem your SATVs:

  1. Verify your eligibility: If you have a Software Assurance membership, you may be eligible for vouchers. Since the vouchers are retiring and cannot be purchased anymore, you likely already have the vouchers you are entitled to.

  2. Activate your vouchers: The benefits manager can go to Microsoft’s Volume Licensing Service Center web site to activate the benefit. This is only necessary the one time.

  3. Create and assign the vouchers: This step must be completed by June 30, 2021. Once your benefits are activated, the benefits manager can assign vouchers to employees by entering their name, work email address, and number of training days. The employee usually has 180 days to take the training, but due to program retirement, this must be completed by December 31, 2021.

  4. Schedule training: Employees can schedule the courses they want to take directly with New Horizons Phoenix. Note that if your license with Microsoft expires, your vouchers will expire if they have not been assigned to an employee.
